I honestly can't make up my mind if I like this or not. Thematically, it is indeed a beautiful piece, with the content being both classical and mature in tone. However... the way that everything is drawn is nowhere near Chalo's usual style, which I enjoy for the most part... to see this radical shift in style without any preface? It's jarring enough to be uncomfortable; it feels like this was NOT drawn by Chalo, even though I know it was. Therefore, I find this particular picture unsettling at best, even if I enjoyed the content.
FWIW, I didn't think this was yours when I saw it in my feed. I think it's the coloring maybe? Same cutie pies, less volume. You always have such wonderfully voluminous girls. Still good of course. Just different.
Well, Chalo, I am more an artist of words than pictures, and yes, my writing style does evolve at times; one look at my history of GFH reviews will make that obvious. However, I've also followed Las Lindas for years now (Crimson on the forums!) and while I know that it's Tiare and Ann on stage at that concert... when has Tiare ever looked like that? Ann does look somewhat similar, perhaps, but there are indeed fundamental differences in both how the girls are drawn, as well as the general aesthetic, from how you show them in the webcomics. It's those differences from what I have experienced that makes it so jarring and uncomfortable; it would be paramount to drawing Alejandra more like a Holstein... or Ambar looking like a massive, fearsome grizzly.
The content itself is indeed wonderful, Chalo... and evolution of style does occur, but... it's just the disparity between this and the webcomic that I find so unsettling. I hope that helps.
Well, it's definitely not what they were doing; any fan knows that Tiare is musically inclined and prefers the piano. Also, Ann could easily be singing in that dress. I guess it does have something to do with the hairstyles... but this picture does show a fundamental change in your style, so much so that it stands alone. If you look at individual pics (like from the Cast or Bust pieces) of both Tiare and Ann, comparing them side-by-side, I think it may become clearer about what I'm referring to.
As I said, there's nothing that is "bad" about this piece; it does hold to your quality standards, as usual, after all... it just feels so very 'different' from what I'm familiar with from your other artwork. I hope I'm making sense, heh.
